I don't think I've ever been less motivated to work. I used to be so focused that I often forgot how many hours had passed. Now I barely have enough motivation to start working. Honestly, I would be most pleased and motivated if I knew that I would soon be a layoff target, that is, that Verizon would pay me to leave.

Another simplistic way of thinking. You are so unhappy and so unmotivated that you are going to wait around for them to pay you to leave, but meanwhile companies are higher at a tremendous rate and TC have never been higher. Are you here because you are lazy or you have zero skills to offer other than retail? There is nothing wrong with that, but essentially that is what it is.
The only way you would be a lay-off target in retail is if the store closed or was taken over by a reseller. I think a lot of people are holding out but it could be several years before something happens. Also if your are a rep trying to get laid off good luck because as you know staffing still remains a concern.
