I have a lot of friends at Central Freight Lines and my heart sank when I found out they were going to lose their jobs right before Christmas. I believe that many of the 2,100 employees will find work at UP, but I hope that all of them will think carefully before applying here.
Admittedly, maybe I'm not right, perhaps there won't be many who will look for a job here?
My friends certainly won't.

Managers at the UP are bullies to employees
This I'm sure has been covered already. It sucks what's happening to the folks at CFL. It makes it worse with the fact that it's happening just before the biggest holiday of the year. Think carefully before applying at the UP? Why in the world would anyone give any thought to a possible career at the UP? I haven't heard about any layoffs at the UP in a while now. Are they done with the layoffs finally? Doubt it! Are you willing to apply at a company that has a really poor history of layoffs? Are you willing to apply at a company that treats employees badly? There's just so much more that can be posted about the UP. There's just no thought that is required when it comes to a job at the UP. Just don't do it! It's not worth it, not even on a short term basis because that's what it'll end up being anyways.
I wouldn’t recommend working at UP to my worst enemy.
