I didn't know how severely underpaid I was at RJ until I left. My advice to those of you who're still there is to send out some feelers and ask around how much you would be earning at other places. You might be shocked by what you find out. I certainly was. And even if you can't leave or there are no openings, you can use it as a bargaining chip in the future.

So many people have left IT in the last year. All of them that I stayed in touch with got way more money. None of them have to work long hours and in an abusive culture. It has motivated me to start looking and I've already had 3 great interviews and I hope to be resigning soon after 6 years here. Between Fisher Investments, Citi and Jp Morgan there is a lot of demand from firms with be cultures who pay much more.
I too thought I had a great job and had put in 15 plus years at RJ including nights, weekends, disaster tests. I thought I had a good manager but unfortunately I was one of the 550 let go. Loyalty means nothing.
