Dismal bonus for NIS/SED

NIS/SED division bonus this year was pathetic, less than 1/2 of what their division minimum was supposed to be according to APB docs.

They trying to make people quit here in January so they have to lay less people off?

@hnil+1egnp0nn Generally agree with you but I think some peeps here aren’t complaining about shiny object/FAANG level work. Seems to be more about questioning the goals and/or the ways to achieve them. Ultimately if one’s doesn’t agree they should I’ve on as the job market is white hot still.

AVGO is actually a very easy company to work for - this is missed by so many. Align and deliver on the goals and ONLY the goals rather than being distracted with shiny/not goal associated work and you get richly rewarded.
If you're waiting around or trying to change AVGO for a place with bean bags and bowls of free M&Ms there are other workplaces better suited to you.

Most people are listening what they want instead of what is there. It is clear that some divisions/functions have still to learn the rules of the game. The APB calculations are clear, but some people did not take the time to do the home work to understand or set clear expectations to their teams.
Because the rules were not understood until now, at this stage it probably seems tricky to give assurance of merit increases (and being cautious in case it was missed something else) and that is the reason of the new "if"s, which given the context is not helping the confidence levels in the team.
My understanding is that the company had the money, but there are no "free rides". If the targets are not met, the bonus will reflect that, as per policy. This is called discipline and the reason for the financial success of the company.

Are the SED products still be significantly developed? I don't see it can be possible given the reduction in staff levels. Especially after the latest cuts.

I think management is definitely doing something shady. This is the first year I noticed a bunch of people pi---d off about their reviews. Many of these were senior level people. My guess is the company is trying to get out off paying bonus money one way or the other. Back to back no raises is not enough, as the stock price is too high for all of those RSU payouts.

(relating to the BS meeting this morning)

Something doesn't pass the sniff test.

Very interesting how this (the numbers/bonus/performance) was communicated NOW, rather than before. We were led into thinking things were great from the previous meetings, and then this bombshell. I believe this brought spirits down.

Then again, "management" is sneaky...

"Management committed to things earlier in the year that we did not meet" - RG

The next thing that bothered me: Merit in the june/july cycle. "Well, we've budgeted for it, cross our fingers! Hope we do well."

If you said you already budgeted for it, then counter with "depends how we do" then this... again.... doesn't pass the sniff test.

Oh.. Noticed how he segued the merit raise to RSUs? You're lucky to get a 2-3 quarterly vested RSU groups before you're probably laid off, canceling out your merit raise.

Ef this. I'm not scared of being laid off anymore.
