Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Did they try to keep anyone?

I am ready to give notice and I know that it will be a surprise to my manager because he is used to me always being a loyal, patient employee who always gave his best. I don’t believe anyone will try to keep me, nor do I think that it's not true, but I heard there were situations when they tried to keep an employee who intended to leave?

What happens if you quit without notice at optum? Does it affect a reference?

They don't really fight to keep anyone. It's use em and abuse em and get youngins in there or oldies because they are desperate. It's a cycle of abuse. Good luck to all

They do give a pizza friday sometimes with corn syrup carbonated drinks and cupcakes. That will definitely help for retirement and paying the rent.

We got MAs with 10, 15+ years of experience yet seem to "enjoy" eating doody. At other orgs theyre union and make double and double and a half more an hour than these folks plus very good benies and pension/real retirement. The reason an MA etc...would stay and work for $1-3 more an hour than a big box clerk is bc of Stockholms syndrome.

My step-father gave me the best advice I have ever received. He is a underground miner. He said, "you don't work at a company, you are selling a service. You are a small business contracted with your employer." Every interaction with your employer is a business deal. Just walk. Don't give them a "notice". They don't deserve you and your honor They're despicable people lining their pockets by profiteering off of the sick and infirm.

Why give any notice? They don't give you a notice that they're firing you? Workers rights, unions, etc...non existent. Just leave. Tell them good riddance. Your manager is/was likely a lackey that's why they're the "manager"--they believe they're own BS and willfully buy into the corporate propaganda.

If you are ready to leave, then it's time to go. Even if they want you to stay, it still does not change the reasons for leaving. Maybe you feel under appreciated. Regardless, if you tell your boss you are going, then go. Some bosses feel slighted by employees who give notice, so it's best just to follow through. Don't quit unless you are serious about it. Maybe you just need to resolve open concerns with your manager. Either way, good luck.
