Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

I can't wait for the next meeting

That, of course, is sarcasm.
If someone asked me what is the thing that drains my energy the most at Citrix - that would definitely be the unnecessary meetings. Why so many meetings? Meetings just for the sake of meetings, in 90 percent of cases. I don't understand why there is a need for so many time-consuming meetings. I have yet to work for a company that is wasting so much time with pointless meetings.

I used to work for Citrix but I doubt that this is a problem only occurring there. I can see it in our organization and others as well that people are almost proud to be 'back-to-back' in meetings for the whole day (more meetings -> I am more important ... really?). I always ask myself when they will find time to work on the actual topics they agreed to take care of in all these meetings? ... In addition, sometimes you have multiple meetings with the same colleagues (sometimes more, sometimes less) taking about the same topics. ... And, QBRs are another example where a lot of executives seem to need their own but some of the content is presented in other QBRs. That is a waste of time. ... I meanwhile blocked half of my day in my calendar for 'focus/work time', to make sure I am not getting invited to meetings where I don't need to be. Less is more ... as so often.

Very true. People organizing more meetings are less competent, since they cannot do much themselves and just create an appearance of productivity. Unfortunately too many of them work for Citrix - a hint for HR for the next round of layoffs
