Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Why do we work after the mall closes?

Can anyone explain to me why? What is the logic behind this? Maybe our "smart" management knows something we don't, like why is it a good idea to work when the mall is closed? I think I'll give notice at the beginning of next week.

Let's see, we complain about "layoffs" on this site... and then we complain when this company tries to make their holiday numbers to avoid layoffs... somewhat counterproductive I think.

it is NOT safe to wander around any mall after it closes! Our store is filled will low life looters during those extended hours, it puts us all at risk!!!

The idea is to get “mall walkers” in our store early mornings. Some people will come to the mall earlier than opening and see Macy’s opened, and wander inside. And once the mall closes, same idea, the people walking around the mall after close will wander in Macy’s because its The only store still open.

Starting Friday December 17 through December 23 my store will be open everyday from 8 am until 11 pm. Really Sunday 8-11. The mall will have weekday AND Saturday hours of 11-8 and Sunday 12-6 during that time period. On Sunday December 26, we will open at 7 am and close at 10 pm and the mall will open at 12 pm and close at 6:00 pm on that day. We know that a lot of places don’t have enough workers, including the mall stores, and that can explain why their shopping hours are not overly extended. We also don’t have enough workers and shouldn’t extended our hours when don’t have enough overlapping coverage for the busiest time of the day which is usually 12 pm-7 pm.
