Quit giving negatives to the posts critical of leadership Vincent
We already answer questions like this in the culture questionnaire. Maybe management should actually read those results and not immediately blow it off saying the employees are the problem changing nothing, again.
We tried hiring based on qualifications for decades. We ended up with white males, a token minority and a token woman on boards.
Why can't we just hire someone who is qualified for the job and not give out bonus points for someone being born a certain way?
You obviously don’t like the truth as my numbers/data come straight from the most recent U.S. Census.
Attend one meeting of Somos ERG and one meeting of blacks reinforcing diversity and you’ll see how many more Hispanics there are.
Perhaps the most recent poster is considering the Costa Rican deputized employees…
Your math is poor. Emerson has fewer blacks proportionally to population than it does Hispanics. Blacks are often 1 in 100 at Emerson or worse.
Clearly you need to check the statistics. African Americans only represent 12% of the U.S. population today and is expected to approach 12.7% by 2040.
Hope this helps you!
Hispanics and Latinos are already represented way more than Blacks at all levels.
With that logic, looks like we need to focus on hiring Hispanics and Latinos in the POC segment as they make up around 25% of the U.S. population. The number of African Americans and Asians employed in all U.S. facilities are already close to the population.
What POC? One bad apple. There aren’t enough POC period.
Reason new employees make more? Because that’s the market and labor is more competitive. Don’t like it? Switch companies.
Encourage a healthy environment without yelling, demeaning comments, teamwork, etc. Employees at all levels are allowed to treat people any way they want especially if someone in leadership likes them.
I disagree with the racism. Emerson is so focused on ensuring no lawsuits they’re letting poc take advantage and do whatever they want (5-10 sick days per month as an example) with no consequences. They have to hire more people to get the work done.
I would consider there is limited diversity at the middle and upper levels though.
Sexism and ageism are absolutely issues at Emerson - they come up with reasons why males make more than females and younger new hires receive equivalent salaries without the experience of older employees.
That ki-k of attitude and all of those marginal software m&a activity tells you how the company got where it is today in so many areas.
American products are dead. Hardware is dead. Software is only way to maintain margins for future Emerson growth. Sorry valves, regulators and transmitters.
How about instead of moving jobs overseas, we start making American made products that aren’t dependent on foreign components? Every lead time is extended resulting in our customers opening the door to the competition. American made products aren’t stuck at sea!
Tell me Lal is just like Farr without telling me Lal is just like Farr
Emerson has continued to move further in the direction of seeking quarterly profits and growth primarily through M&A despite having a horrendous track record with M&A. Emerson focuses on M&A mostly to squeeze "synergies" out of "restructuring" the acquired businesses and their existing ones, a.ka. Non. Stop. Layoffs. Why not stop M&A activity and focus on innovation in their existing businesses for long term profits? Because that removes the purpose of the St. Louis corporate office. So. Stop M&A, defund corporate and take those funds and invest in their existing businesses. That should go a long way. It won't happen.
Get rid of rampant racism and sexism. Have HR that punishes abusive leaders, not rewards them. Promote collaboration, not competition among businesses.
Depends on what you consider the iissues. For me, that starts with Lal, Ram, Sabee, KBB and every other member of leadership who played the game under Farr, but now want people to believe they are committed to changing the culture. They are the culture they created.
Emerson is deeply invested in the 1960’s. Like TWA, Macdonald Douglas, Brown Shoe, AMC, Oldsmobile, Kodak, Cincinnati Milicron and the like.
I can’t imagine a competitive environment where they thrive. They will survive as long as there are similar customers.
Ask the new "Chief People Officer." I'm sure this all falls within her job duties.
