One day I told myself that it was enough and since then I have been working the bare minimum. I think most people who now work the bare minimum used to be top performers who realized that hard work is in vain. And what happened in the meantime? Since I’ve been working the bare minimum, I feel like I’m even more valued than ever before.

1 - One is valued while there are results, not by the number of hours worked.
2 - Everyone is replaceable.
3 - Go to 1.
I used to work 50+ hours a week.
Then I realized that nobody wanted me to do that, so I started working about 8-12 hours a week, doing as little as possible.. and was counting down days till I'm fired.
However now the management thinks I'm a top performer.
If I start working 4 hours a week.. will I get promoted? Is that how it works here?
You're making the assumption there are top performers here. Not sure about that. on the software side most top players are gone. the bench players and incompetent managers remain.
Top performers stopped caring and do just enough to make others think they still top performers
