Among all the things that I don't like here, the worst is that this company doesn't care about the safety of its employees at all. I can say that I have never worked in a company that cares less about the safety of workers. Terribly.
How long will they ignore it?
Does it take something bad to happen to start paying more attention to this big issue?

I am very saddened and concern to agree with some of the sentiments of the original poster and to see money put ahead of safety. Andeavor learned the hard way to step up their safety standards. At first it seemed that MPC maintained an even higher safety standard. Since the economic pressure of 2020, safety has taken a back seat to cost cutting. I have already been part of two "near miss" incidents that we very predictable and caused by poor planning. I am worried that we are on course for a safety "hit" incident in the very near future.
I’m a former Andeavor employee. I was severed last year. I worked for the company during PNW accident, one of the worse moments of my career was losing coworkers. Afterwards, I felt the company made good progress improving safety . It saddens me to hear that under MPC my brothers and sisters could be put back in dangerous situations. I hope everyone takes care and stays safe out there
As a former andeavor now MPC employee ive seen somewhat the opposite. Ive found MPCs safety policies to be over the top and excessive to the point of unrealistic. If you actually followed them all youd never get Any work done. And if you do it takes tons more people and cost to manage it all. With that said… ive been a refinery employee for over 20 years and since MPC bought us a couple years ago my job has been miserable.almost overnight.

Safety is the biggest joke at MpC and the reason I left the company. Incompetent leadership from the top down. All the way around. It was quite comical until the blood shed. No one is accountable but hey at least they are nearing the diversity quotas. He’s in talking to the MPLX side Just atrocious and toxic. The worst I’ve ever seen.
Our last CEO always took time to discuss safety. This one spends 75% of the time discussing cost cutting and profits. When that is prioritized from the top, the lower level managers become obsessed with it (wanting to get in a couple more years of good bonuses before retirement). In the past couple years, I have seen first hand many examples of profit coming before safety. And not just small items- major items were overlooked. Although it could bankrupt the company, I’d love to see some of these people getting prosecuted by the Feds following a major incident!
Unfortunately until they face consequences, they will focus on keeping profits high to fill their own pockets.
