Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Rare TDC’s CEOs last 10 years

This exercise will show you the main issue with the company. Unfortunately it will also depress you. I’ve lived through all these and it’s been torture. Scale of 1-10. MK (3) VL (2), OR (3), VL (2) SM (5). The BOB failed us since their main job is to make sure we have a strong CEO. We deserved so much better.

How could TD have so many bad CEOs in a row - unless it was by design? What do we know about the BOD? How hard would it be for a competitor to bribe the BOD to stack the ELT with dullards? With so much obvious corruption all around us, it's not hard to imagine it's happening at TD as well.

It's not just executive leadership, although there's plenty of blame on them. The multiple layers of do-nothing middle management with lofty titles also bear much of the burden. Hopping from meeting to meeting and shuffling Powerpoint slides isn't very effective management.

Your ratings are higher than I would give. And you are right, it is depressing. Snowflake gets FS, a seasoned CEO with a track record of success. And we get SM who is learning on the job and paying McKinsey to do his job. A string of poor to mediocre CEOs.

Agreed--it is the responsibility of the Board of Directors to ensure strong executive leadership and proper company focus on product and competition vs all the resources and emphasize on internal things such as culture and diversity.
