Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Why is returning to the office more important than the benefits of remote work?

vaccine opinions aside, let's discuss how Citrix's core value prop is enabling remote work, yet they're making employees go back to the office. I actually think this could bode well for them.
If anything's going to attract top talent these days, it's the opportunity to sit in a cubicle working for less than market value with the perpetual fear of layoffs hanging overhead.

I like the sarcasm in this post (@3lfu+1e6U1RT9). I'm thinking about all the advantages of remote work, of which there are many, and all the advantages of RTO, which are almost non-existent, so does anyone understand why Citrix prefers to see its employees back in offices? Completely insane.

Is sales leadership pushing for return to office? Engineering is not and if they do even more people will quit. Engineering is already bleeding tons of people because Citrix is so far behind on compensation compared to peers. There is also zero retention with current issues RSUs since they are worth nothing now.

Sitting in a cubicle? How about sitting at a table in an open office sneeze distance from three other people?

Ahh yes the trustworthy Citrix management says there's no push for RTO. Lemme guess, they promised low quotas in 2022 also?

In Fort Lauderdale there is zero push to go back into the office. No one is going back so there is no need to progress to new phases. Messaging from management is that we will be hybrid with an emphasis on employee choice.

Just another one of the many examples of why sooooooo many people have left and are leaving Citrix in 2021. Everyone is acting like the recent layoff was a big deal. Yeah, they let go of a good 10%+ of the company but many more than that have left this year. Still some people holding out to see what happens in Q1 2022 but they'll leave as well as soon as reality sets in. Zero commitment to their talent (you know, the people who actually do the work that makes the company money), zero concern about the partner community unless they move to CSP model and even that commitment is limited - most of their sales are direct with the customer now and that will eventually wash over to CSP customers as well, zero concern or commitment to their distributors, product strength is dwindling so no real competitive edge and no one can money with them anymore - Citrix is over.

If any single policy encapsulates "Leadership has absolutely no idea how to run Citrix" ... it is this!!

How can you successfully run a company whose mission is to enable remote-work, while simultaneously telling your employees they'll all be forced to return to the office?

@ELT: If you don't believe in letting employees work remote longterm... you're at the wrong company!! What a joke! I got out last March as soon as they first announced a plan to return. So much happier and increased by salary 50%.
