Just got home from another grueling day of fulfillment and I'm exhausted. We have so many carts around the store with picks from BF weekend we still can't get to. Been doing fulfillment for three years and have never had so few people to do so many picks. Store Manager is just complaining about how much stuff we are picking and the ops manager is out. Doesn't seem like there was much of a plan, wonder how long people who ordered stuff last week are willing to wait. Can't even fit the stuff we picked into the stockrooms and customers are shopping stuff off the piles outside of the fulfillment room that we already picked. Christmas can't get here fast enough so we can get back to normal.

Talk about no plan, just doing the same thing we have been doing for the last five years even though the number of picks continues to grow and we are in a pandemic where nobody wants to work for the pittance that Macy's pays. Hey JG, how about another email about a social issue to the organization where you seem to think everyone cares when what we really care about is what we get paid, the lousy benefit package, and how about realistic expectations for what we are expected to do during holiday fulfillment.
We used to have an operations manager who actually knew what we she was doing, now we get emails complaining and criticizing the efforts of our small team from the DVP who doesn't even know what he is talking about. All the experts are gone and it's just the clueless leaders who are now responsible for everything. The DVP doesn't care how many hours we are working or that we have 22 unfilled jobs, just always pushing, pushing pushing, store manager hates him and so do we. No leadership, just a crazy cult with no work life balance working for a guy who can't take a picture without raising his finger to show that he is #1.
Our OVM is a clueless dolt, just stares at SPManager while others suffer with picklists of 300 units each almost.
You need to get your fulfillment turned off and focus on packing. If you truly have picks from Black Friday weekend that haven't been packed and shipped yet, your whole operation is a fail.
The fulfillment employees at my store are working 16 hours shifts and there is no room to put all the packages and then you have to have the UPs truck to come and pick up the orders. Seasonal workers packing things wrong. Running out of packages and boxes and bubble wrap. It’s just a big old mess. As a sales associate who helps out fulfillment, it’s extremely difficult to find the picks also. A lot of items are not on the floor or stock rooms but in receiving in boxes. It’s just rough and management is horrible and disorganized.
@gne You are correct throughout retail.
Unfortunately, I think this is the new normal.
