It's sad how much office politics dominate possibilities to advance. It doesn't matter if you're the best worker with the best ethic. It's simply unimportant in the grand scheme of things where politics and nepotism determine everything. This is creating a toxic work environment and making a lot of good employees very unhappy. I expect that attrition will only continue to increase in the future.

If this is happening then your company are hiring the wrong type of people for management roles. So your policies are wrong, your people are second rate, ethics are poor or non-existent and you are no better than others or the service contractors in the oil game.

That is the story in every corporation in the history of corporations. It’s how it will always be. We are social creatures, not robots.
The same things goes on offshore and we have been dealing with this for years. It's not what you know or how good you are it's who you know and now the company is only pushing advancement for the people of color or same s-x preference , so SORRY don't feel sorry for anyone anymore who stays with a company who advances such.
