Perhaps some like it that way, but I expected to get better training.
When I first came here, I was totally lost and had to beg my colleagues to help me so I could do my job. I didn’t immediately give notice just because I needed a job, but I finally gave it yesterday.
Is this company really leaving new employees entirely on their own without any training, or was that just in my case?
It's always been that way - fire by baptism. Sink or swim. Some areas are obviously worse than others. Client Services in the Broadway Building was the absolute worst. I am so glad I don't work at DST anymore. I feel fortunate.
I was on "teams" at DST where tenured people deliberately withheld training in order to try and make themselves indispensable. Sadly, it sounds like that's only gotten worse, but I'm glad you're getting out.
DST mean "Don't Start Training". Staff is thus untrained!
I worked supporting an application used by bpo, developed and maintained by dst. When all the developers quit they made me take over the application bug fixes and enhancements. I’m not a software developer! I was lost needless to say. The company is effed.
I had the same experience. Unless there is a "trainer" in your area, your department, you will not get any help. People just think "its not my job". There is no team spirit. Because people know the teams will cease to exist soon.
