The union won't help. There needs to be change, but the union is not the answer. Plus, they have a large staff dedicated to stopping union efforts. One of them is named Nich, he is ex HR.

To the person who was talking about if unions come so will automation.....

Automation is coming with or without unions. It will be the only way Lowe's will be able to compete with Amazon. Amazon will figure out the DIY business (as they are starting to do with grocery) and as soon as they do, if Lowe's isn't super automated, it will be game over.

Going forward now that the wheels are in motion, they will systematically weed out any and all pro union employees with write-ups , slip on a banana peel etc. over the course of time as not to have instant backlash. Lowe’s will promise a lot but deliver next to nothing. Lowe’s will tell you what you want to hear by having Union busting lawyers come in with their rhetoric. Fly people in from corporate to talk to you individually about change(s) which will not be for the better whether you vote y/n. Your store will never be the same after this. Good luck too all.

I worked for Lowe’s for a number of years. Bringing in a Union everything is on the table I mean everything. Starting with your wages!! and benefits and not for the better.
If you people vote the Union in which will be cr-p paying dues whatever they will be. After a couple of years they will shutdown the store(s) and Lowe’s will state that the store is an impairment store(s). Just try transferring to another store you will be blackballed for sure as not to influence or corrupt.

Lowe's is scared about having a union come in. Why do you think they try and diffuse it as quickly as possible. Why do you think there are videos all over the Internet about how they try and stop unions. Why? Because they know unionized stores would hurt their bottom line and help the employees.

The sooner Lowe's is unionized, the better. You'll be protected from incompetent management, they won't be able to change your schedule last minute and part timers won't get their hours cut right before their shift. And you won't have to cover half of the store because it isn't staffed correctly.

They will close the store down before letting a Union come in.

First, it's not going to happen. But, just for fun, I'll play along. Let's say like a union DOES take hold in a store. THIS is what you will see come about even faster and accelerate....more automation and fewer positions in the store. Layoffs will be massive....

Below comments is Lowes management trying to bust Unions. This is what we are asking for -

  • Twos days off together
  • Uninterrupted break/lunches
  • Perform only our job duties and not the duties of other jobs - cashier, janitor, delivery puller, freight unloader
  • no schedule changes after posting
  • additional wages for cutting stations, power equipment, running a register

If Lowes management would have only done these things from the get go we wouldn’t be at this point.

Honestly hope it’s a empty threat. The manager sucks and upset the wrong person. I refused to sign the card. Multiple hr town halls lately. But anytime a visit comes mgr tells everyone how bad they are. He fired 2 20 year plus asms. And can’t keep a mgt staff. Mgr was fired from depot years ago for the same cr-p.

Retail Unions are horrible. Do you think they are the same as the UAW or Teachers Unions ? Your hours are not going to improve. Your pay will not improve and you will be paying dues. Do you think you are going to be a loader , cashier or csa whatever and pull down 40 or 50k ?
