Why in the world would you give up on severance?

Peloton set aside $130mil in cash for severance and other restructure expenses. You can pontificate your own math on how much you may or may not get in severance and divvy it up amongst 2800 poor souls that are about to get laid off...
Any idea on what the severance will look like?
This is not the moment to make any rash decision.
