Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Support team changes??

So it is only my store changing some things around or is it company wide? One of the OVM said to wait and things will be changing soon. Im assuming in February, but dont have any information really on what it is.

I was in a pilot store and I will tell you that there were meltdowns when support was told they'd have to work store hours and sales associates were told they'd have to learn signing. A bunch of people quit and no one in support ever learned how to ring. Needless to say, after about a month, our store went back to its old ways. Not sure if they will be forced to try it again in February when it goes company-wide (cuz I got out of there!)

Can you tell me more about the pilot program? What exactly are the test stores doing? Signing must take place prior to store open. I'm assuming that sales people did placement? When I worked at Hudson's in MI (AGES ago) that's what we did.

Im not sure about dock and Fulfillment, but I know the company did a test in 3 stores in 2018/2019 and it didn't work then. They separated the teams again and brought back support. But if they started to test again in 2021, not sure what they did differently to make it work this time around. That they want to do it company wide.

If support has to work store hours now, it must be just the signers/placers? Fulfillment and dock team can't start that late. Or can they?

We have been doing this on the spring of 2021 as part of the pilot program.

So all store employees will have to work all store hours? That’s a big change for some store employees that don’t work beyond 5:00 and on the weekends.

Support to work store hours and be considered floor coverage some shifts and selling to do support functions some shifts….

That's what they are saying to everyone in the hopes they won't quit.

The OVM role is changing, apparently, and will be 2 positions instead- operations and merchandising/ visual.

I don't know how this will affect support staff that is not executive.
