Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

How would you describe the culture at Synamedia now?

I was recently asked this by a person who was considering applying here for a job. What would you say, what is the culture like here?

Tell them!! Move on, nothing to see here. This company continues to fire quality people and expect morale to be high. Nope! Those that are left are hoping for a package. Yes, the layoffs continue in the US with a week's notice but they are hiring like crazy in India and Mexico.

Engineering teams that love building cool things but aren't at all connected to their customers and their needs.
Large number of staff who have very long tenure and have lost their drive.
Broken relationship between management and staff.
Long history of product management/technical strategy decisions being based on desires of engineering team rather than true business requirements.
No ability to complete deliveries.
No path to future revenue growth.
Willingness to sack experienced staff with critical knowledge and no understanding of its value.
Regions fight for interesting work.
Poor career paths.
Periodic layoffs.

Apart from this it's great!

  • The company is led by a CEO and CFO who have no industry experience but are the key decision makers.
  • An inept HR organization that spends its time trying to convince employees this is a great place to work while ignoring the feedback provided in employee surveys.
  • An IT organization run by leaders with no IT experience
  • 1% to 2% cost of living increases in regions experiencing 6%+ inflation
  • laptops and workstations that are 3+ years old that employees don’t want to let go of because the replacements are the cheapest spec’d models available.
  • hour long scripted SynaMeets that bounce from one executive “leader” to another patting each other on the back while not providing any relevant information.
  • a business model based on moving all jobs to India asap (and before the race baiting trolls jump in - this is not a slam on low cost region workers, it’s a statement of fact to consider when weighing a position with a company)
  • No discernible products with traction in the market place
  • last, but certainly not least, an enviable customer base!

Do not apply. That's all you need to tell that person.
