Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Did they layoff Publications Staff

I see the last online editions of Aramco publications were dated December 2021, even weekly Arabian Sun last Edition was December 15,2021. Did they lay off all publications staff or IT people who update website?

It seems Arabian Sun is available on Life but only to those who have an Aramco email address (employees). This means that retirees and others cannot access the Arabian Sun which must mean it’s classified as internal company use only rather than public. Historically, it was always classified as public for PR purposes.

It seems to be, but in name only, it’s not a pdf version with several diverse subjects from different areas of company, but only main articles from corporate PR.

It seems to be available on Aramco life website.

Or most of the staff failed the most recent phishing test and temporarily lost their computer privileges.

It probably didn't occur to their CSL what would happen with the publications if the staff didn't have access to them.

Everyone knows journalist is a Saudi Only job so the staff was Saudized.

They hired big, frowning, sullen girls (like the ones in charge of camp maintenance or clinic appointments or HR) to be in charge of Arabian Sun.

So now, either the Arabian Sun will magically publish itself or the work just won’t get done. RIP

Such a shame. Publications were such an integral part of the company business.

Hopefully the company will up its twitter game to make up for the loss.

That is the reason I didn't received my Aramco World magazine this month. It is a shame, I enjoy reading and the Calendar. I hear Abqaiq Gazzette was also shutdown.

Highly-trained and we’ll-educated personnel from the Dhahran Dining Hall will be writing all future publications. Like the contractors hired for garbage collection, they will work for cashews and a bag of rice. It is hoped that a future William Faulkner can be identified to improve the English Literacy Level at the Company. The exotic odors produced by these writers will keep the attention of all personnel for years to come.

The younger generation cannot even update a website, just as well the world no longer relies on Aramco for crude oil or finished products.

Or all the expats who worked on it left when they saw their raise

Perhaps it has been outsourced to Marzook.
