Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy’s is a cesspool of lies. Everyone who has ever worked here knows that. Our store leader is totally incompetent. He is a good politician and that is about it. He avoids all controversy and conflicts. He avoids making decisions, he just ignores the situation hoping it goes away.
He actually said if he likes you you can work here if he don’t you won’t. If you are liked you will only work in areas and only do things you want. You will get weekends off.
If he doesn’t like you you are global and expected to do everything and you don’t get weekends off. The store is a totally toxic workplace.
If you kiss ip to him you have a golden ticket to do minimal work.
The managers change like the weather.
You would think the mid Atlantic regional or corporate would investigate why the managers and employees are always leaving.
Most but not all of the women are back stabbing and always talking trash about their coworkers.
I have never experienced a nonprofessional toxic work environment like Macy’s.

If you are a macys employee then all you have to do is go to your insite page and the askhr section and you can see all of macys policies for yourself. I think you may need to ask yourself if it’s management lying to you or do you just disagree with the policy.

I don't trust my DBM DMM at all. She lies to us all of the time, and she is not qualified to have her job. We all know how she got the JOB she has now. She says one thing to our face and then changes her story the next day. I have caught her talking negatively about us to both my peer and her peers.
She doesn't ever give an opinion about our business, offer any ideas or guidance and has yet to offer any ideas on strategy development. The only thing I can learn from her is how to avoid any responsibility and accountability while adding nothing to the conversation and collecting a paycheck. She does not have our backs and will not support her team.

I think that managers that lie lose credibility fast. They get found out, the word spreads, and their name is mud. Eventually their performance suffers because no one believes them.

I’ve worked at Macys a long time so they can’t lie to me, they will omit the truth but I have seen them lie straight faced all the time to newer employees. It is because these new employees do not know anything and are new to Macys, the managers are always lying to them about policies, working extra hours, inventory and PTO. The they always come to me to confirm and I always tell them the truth and tell them what to do that suits them best and not the management.

Most of them lie. But remember cr-p runs downhill. The lies and deceit begin at the very top with Gannett and runs down to his puppet lieutenants, and then onto the national and regional managers, then to the store managers and on down the line. Any of the lieutenants, regionals and store managers lie to protect their jobs and bonuses.
Gone are the days when a person can speak up. Macy’’s loves timid, passive, bo--y smooching people in their management structure. They make each other feel good by st-----g each others egos and protecting their big bonuses.
This is why Macy’s is no longer a desirable company to work for as an hourly employee.
Management at all levels has created a toxic work environment full of lies and deceit. Look up the word unethical and Macy’s is part of the definition.
The few honest mangers that we had in our our store have left the company for better opportunities. They did not want to be part of this company any longer.
It is a very sad to watch this company being ripped apart.

There is a difference between doing your job and not sharing information you either aren't authorized to share, or have been directed specifically not to share... and lying.

I could explain it to you, but I'd never be able to understand it for you.

My manager is really good, she's a decent human being. I'd say she does not lie. But she sometimes witholds truth. I understand why.

they all lie from the top to bottom
