The last layoffs I can recall were in October. Does anybody know how are affected people doing? How many were able to find a new job by now and how many are still looking? I'd just like to know how hard is it really to land a new position these days when everybody is claiming there are available jobs all around.

I took an early retirement package in 2020 just before the pandemic hit in force. I had several job interviews set up and most were canceled because a lot of companies froze hiring. I was able to finally land a good job through LinkedIn and it was close to home. Some of my former coworkers were laid off and 25% of them have found work. Unfortunately, for the other 75%, those guys are white, male, and over 55 so they are suffering from reverse discrimination, gender discrimination, and age discrimination.
this company is still bound to the old HW world of IT.
The old HW world of IT is a thing from the past - gone completely. Get used to this. Life is different today than it was 20 years ago when HP was one of the 4 horsemen.
Being let go last year was a blessing, period!
My experience - toxic environment, cuts every year, no investment into employees, no rises, no bonuses anymore.
I can't stress enough how bad working there was for the last few years, don't blame it on fellow Employees, there are great assets, the issue is they are not being valued, unless you want to end up in the neverending office politics games, ridicolous.
HPE is okay-ish as a first step into the IT world, actually, maybe it was...the world has changed and technology has changed, while this company is still bound to the old HW world of IT.
Good riddance!
Wow, it's so great hearing about how easy it is after being laid off. Great jobs are everywhere. Paying much more that you were making before. I guess if you have any trouble finding a job or are upset at all about being laid off you are a big loser.

It wasn't really thay hard for me to get a job after I got laid off from HPE in July 2020. I was only unemployeed for 3 months but knew I got the job a month prior to starting. There are far more jobs than when I got laid off. People shouldn't have too much of an issue getting a job nowdays unless they're unskilled or not able to communicate their skills. It was only hard to get a job in 2020 because many companies froze their hiring and likely trying to evaluate how to adapt and reevaluate their IT infrustructure and start using Zoom/Teams for communication.
Now I'm here at HPi and honestly having a better time than I did at HPE even though it has been a weird start in the midst of covid. I see a lot of my colleagues from HPE making their exodus. Those who remain there are telling me that they're constantly shuffling around many organizations. Sounds like HPE is in limbo internally trying to figure out where to put people.
Good luck!
After 11 years I got let go in 2020. I had a new job paying more 3 months later. It was a blessing in disguise really. I would keep your resume updated every few quarters and build a strong network of people in a variety of areas.
I left voluntarily. I literally got a job on my first try. It was too easy, in my head I was thinking it would be a long hard slog. In reality, it was really easy. I used LinkedIn for my search.
I opted to retire. My finances allowed it and it's fantastic. So glad to be done with the place. I got very tired of having to apologize to the customers for corporate incompetence on a regular basis.
I'm just fine, there are jobs everywhere. I would suggest that your get a resume together now so that you are ready to go when it happens. Also you should always be networking via local and Internet groups.
