Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

So many OVM postings ???

Why so many job postings for the OVM role? From what I read the job is either being eliminated, or splitting into Ops and Style responsibilities. Is Macys just going to fill these jobs in the next 3 weeks to either cut or demote these people?

It's definitely a bait and switch.
While I no longer work there, when I applied in 2021, I was hired as the Visual Manager. A week later I got demoted to Visual Captain.
Let's just say I'm glad I am no longer there.

Catfish? Bait and switch? Lore all the talents and then bam! they will do something completely different than what they sign up for.
No?

Now let's fix the MBA job, too. Talk about that turnover! Insane what's required in that role.

@sti+1eIHJqGC Here is how it was presented to me. One OVM would focus solely on fulfillment and dock. It’s not like the operator job of the past. The primary focus would be Omni. The other OVM would be merchandising, execution, with the visual captain reporting to them. I’m sure each store manager will spin it differently to suit his/her needs. It sounded to me like the StyleSetter Manager is getting the short end of the stick depending how many OVM’s you currently have. If you have 4 then having 1 Ops and 3 Style Setters is not bad but if you only have 2, well then it’s a different story.

Who gets merchandising?

OVM was always a bad idea from day 1. How they ever thought giving 3 or 4 full-time jobs to one person is beyond me....

Same title but split with a focus responsibility . One will be just OPS (think old OPs mgr with Dock duties) and Visual (like the old Visual Mgr).

In all honesty, I was not aware about so many Ovm job openings, although it doesn't surprise me. It seems Ovms have a lot on their plate, it takes someone who really knows what their doing to even keep up with everything they have to do, which is hard. At my store, both Ovms worked their bu-t off to keep the store doing well even without a store manager, we've been without a store manager for almost 3 months.

@qut+1eIHJqGc Can you describe the conversation you had? What are the two jobs?

The title is changing and 100% being split as I was asked which position I wanted.
