Will $ for severance dry up? What have they been offering to short, medium and long term employees?

I work in one of those departments that have access to G&A from across departments. I don't ever see line items for severance even though there are many other smaller amounts we pay.

Since this amount seems to be hidden from even some of us with some type of access, does anyone have insight into whether or not the amount they give is decreasing? No company is obligated to pay severance and because the only reason to do so is reduce litigation risk, there should be no reason to let the well run dry when the company is closing shop.

Just get what you can from them. They are getting whatever they can from you.

Years of service and age are the only criteria used with the exception of executives.

100% Apache uses “protected classes” as a severance sweetener.

I'm the previous commenter. I'm neither telling you what I think or what it should be. I'm sharing how HR presently calculates severance. You're getting no counter arguments from me.

Learn to separate useful data from opinions you disagree with in your daily life. You'll inch ahead faster this way.

Don't spew that BS here. Two people in the same layoff with the same job and the same years in service should get the exact same initial severance offer.

We do some work adjacent to HR and I can tell you they have a formula for determining severance based on tenure and how many of those little checkboxes you fill as a protected class employee. race, age, gender, orientation, etc. age counts once once you hit 40 and again once you hit 50.

If you haven't been here for long, the next best thing to max out your buyout is to be an old, black, g-y woman. Considering this is Apache, how many black, openly g-y or women are there really who won't be fired for cause instead anyway.

Within the U.S., max sev tops out at 18 months with international offices and exceptions going 24 months and beyond.
