Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Yes it is a pyramid of lies. It begins at the top and runs throughout the management structure.
The poor people at the bottom are treated like dirt.

Lies all Lies

Red badge here. When covid happened and I was furloughed I thought about a lot of things. How hard I’ve worked to impress higher ups, how I worked so much and had no personal life because I wanted to do all I could to advance in my career. Then the pandemic happened and I was nothing more then a number, hit me pretty hard.
I took those weeks learned new skills, started my own side business and paid more attention to my personal life and marriage. 2 years later I’m still a red badge at M but am so much happier. I give 200% the 8 hours 5 days a week I am there. I do not give any more time or extra days anymore. I get my job done. My main focus is my marriage and small business. M is what you make it. I just go with it instead of letting it control my life. Guess what? I’m a better people leader because I’m not so stressed and worried. I still like reading here all the complaining and stressing about things the company does and doesn’t do makes me laugh. Stop giving them so much control over your emotions and the free space they are renting in your head.

I used to be you and feel so much better that I’m not anymore. It really is freeing when you stop caring about a place then doesn’t care about you. Once you figure that out it is a very enjoyable place to work!

Totally agree with everything except the promotions. Where I am only the lying lazy as--s get promoted and the very few African Americans are looked over or leave eventually because if the bias.

I understand where you are coming from, but maybe you are looking at it from a different perspective, or maybe the store you work at is really that bad, only you know that. I myself choose to deal with such situations a little different, I prefer to concentrate more on the things I can control, everything else will just stress you out. I myself was ready to walk out one time, I worked my b-u-t-t off like no one else, only to lose my position due to cuts. I stayed with Macy's for lesser pay but that was because a lot of places were still shut down. In comes a new store manager who made it difficult for many to work with. I could have thrown in the towel but decided I will be the one in charge of my own destiny, not someone else because of their managing style. In the end, at least for now, I came out on top, making more money than ever before. I've also received a couple unsolicited job offers, outside of Macy's, from former managers, because they know the type of person I am. If you are a good worker, people will notice.
