Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Remote vs Office work

For me I can go either way. I enjoy the work from home but have no issue going into the office either.
What I don’t understand is the drive or urgency to bring people back into the office if they don’t need to be there. If things are working just as good OR better with remote work vs an office prescience, why bother? Why not just leave it up to the individual as to whether they go back or not. What is there to gain by forcing people back in. For some roles I can see it I guess like the heavy hitter power players who brainstorm at a high level who need that face to face time but that’s a small group.
Most people I know and groups I collaborate with don’t need the constant walk up face to face in order to function. Email works, zoom works, cell call works, Lync works…so what’s the urgency?

No kidding. It’s embarrassing to see stock market segments talk to a panel of all the major banks and Citi is NOT among them. It seems we just sit back and follow the others leads after the fact.
Ok, so we are leading the charge on vaccine requirements, great awesome. Where is this aggressive initiate on other aspects of the business you know, like making money. Crazy stuff like that. Now is the time you’ll get a reply to this post of “I’ve been in the industry for 20 years etc…”….Don’t care, what are you doing to increase revenue other than spouting off “Go Citi!!!” Other than posing for pictures of each other signing off on “let’s get ‘em back in the office”, where are these leaders who are the decision makers who can drive more of a profit? No, I have no idea what it takes to run a multi billion $ bank, but then again I’m not making 2 million a year either to figure that out either.

I could care less either way. Like the other poster said, I’d just like to see a little focus on innovation to cause the stock price to go up……for once. You keep the lights on by bringing in revenue and not giving it away……so when does that take place?
I could care less about the he said she said vaccine mandate, do something to focus on bringing in the money, then focus on NOT giving it away accidentally.

Come on all know that management needs to be surrounded by "yes" men/women to feel their power.

I have the vaccine, that aside, the question still remains of the effectiveness of remote vs. office presence. What has been said rings true, its about control.

If you’re too ignorant or crazy to get vaccinated, you really aren’t an employee Citi would want to rely on or trust. So get vaccinated, or work so where else.

With people wfh, the economy will continue to struggle and soon everyone will be looking for jobs. Have to stimulate the economy by bringing people back. NTC mayor even said so.

I’ll be glad when we start focusing on making a profit again. While being a social justice warrior looks good on paper, I don’t see it drawing a lot of revenue. Other banks that seem to focus on profit….well…..their stock price seems to yield more of a gain and dividend payout which in turn draws AND RETAINS top talent vs. the citi norm of running them off.

The reason for the mandate, she wants us back in the office daily. This will be announced 2h22, my guess.

May the top talent leave and prove that Jane was the wrong choice. I hate to say it, but she will fire you for this mandate and the other mandates that will come down the road.

Vaccines were never required in the past to work at the bank. As a liberal woman myself, I disagree with this as Jane and HRs leverage is overreach.

I don’t think anyone wants to see the doors close, if it did we’d all be out of a job but no one likes ultimatums either no matter how right or wrong.

People need to sue against this vaccine mandate and bring this company to its grave. Rise up and sue. Mandate is illegal and will just put this company out of business. We will celebrate when they shut their doors.

It’s more of a manipulation tactic to enforce vaccination. Transparency at its best.

They want everyone vaccinated. If they make you come into office, they can mandate that you also be vaccinated.

I agree. Its stupid to make people come back. Its just a way to control folks. Thats all it is.
