Thread regarding JCPenney layoffs

10 Years

Can you believe it? Next month will mark the 10th anniversary of the beginning of JCP’s Decade of Ruin. It all began in earnest in February 2012…with the elimination of coupons and significant cuts to staffing in most stores.

Be sure to send your best wishes to Ron, Marv and Jill!

The problem is fixing itself as JCP is not acquiring new customers. So yes customers are aging out of the Stone Age, by becoming stone.

Customer's always right. Anyway, I hate to break it to Anonymous, but the decade of ruin did not start 10 years ago, but more like in the '80s. I remember a Penny's employee telling customers in Houston, how great the price drop in oil was....in Houston, Texas! I cautioned her to be careful celebrating that price drop, because Penny's customers at that time were all oil people, that lost their jobs, and guess who had to close down a year later. It's not the customer, but JCP leadership and to some extent, employees. I even shopped at JCP in Jeddah Saudi Arabia, to no avail. That store shut down. At least those folks had a lot of Saudi Manager's that were pretty good and tried.

Ron was on the right path, but as he mentioned JCP customers weren't that smart when it came to deals. JCP wants to match TJMaxx who dont use coupons and just sell it for the discount price no coupons needed...JCP needs to get out of the Stone Age..so do the customers.
