Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Magic of Macys

This past year has been brutal for those in stores. Most Managers and Colleagues are overworked to compensate for all the open jobs and/or terrible hires all while the Divisonal and Regional staff are still pushing high expectations, never lifting a finger to help, only setting you up for failure. Sixty stores to close by end of 2023, we just announced 10 (1 already closed) all to "keep pressence in the market.....their omnichannel store ecosystem running" You're abusing your worforce in stores, while your Regional Team sends lunch requests for their visits to stores, only to come and not say a word to store Colleagues!? Where did the MAGIC of Macys go?

They can keep their pizza and subway. They feed the regionals catered food from the trendy restaurants in town and give us Domino’s and Subway.
As I said they can keep it . I never participate in the so called “Luncheons” it is always garbage. One time they had cut up hotdogs and beans. Who in their right mind would serve this at an appreciation luncheon? Oh that’s right Macys would.

Hey! I appreciate the pizza and Subway. Some stores only get boxes of Ramen or cheese crackers during inventory.

“We get lousy Domino's $5 pizza and the regional team gets catered specialty food that most of them didn't even eat.”

Just a question, why is it macys problem to feed you? This is a job not a soup
Kitchen. I completely understand having celebrations and special days for engagement with treats. But to supply dinner and lunch and whatever else for inventory or Black Friday is out Of control, I’m so tired of colleagues complaining about cheap pizza or subway or whatever else was provided. Macys is not responsible for feeding you. Your a grown up pack your lunch or buy your own food. Macys is a job who supplies a paycheck nothing more or less. Maybe if we stopped all the food and catering and snacks for credit or spending $100 on Oreos for “National cookie day” amongst all the stores we could put those funds towards paying people more.

I couldn't have said it better. We had to buy gifts for the regional visit this year and stand outside and clap and cheer when they came into the store and it was over 90 degrees. It was humiliating and the Store Manager bought a bunch of specialty food for the regional team using the budget for the store colleagues. We get lousy Domino's $5 pizza and the regional team gets catered specialty food that most of them didn't even eat. Our new DVP is a clown who makes kissing up an art form and doesn't care that there were no funds for the holiday because all the money was spent buying gifts and high-end food for his boss lady.

Still can't believe they cut the district teams that actually knew the stores in favor of their bosses who don't know the stores at all. Senior management that "leads" from a secret remote location hiding behind conference calls and emails.

Well said! Macy’s is an environment of smoke and mirrors. The hypocrisy within the upper management is sickening.
