We were told today that our store will open an hour later and closing an hour earlier. Is this an indication of what's coming in February? No trolls, real information will be appreciated.

I think covid was a handy excuse for the january hours. The company clearly doesn't want to shorten hours. But if you don't have the coverage of employees and january is a slow month anyhow, why not do it. They did it a couple years back and it not only worked great, didn't hear any employee complaning.
They are closing earlier and opening later so they can make the experienced employees work ten to sixteen hour overnight shifts to do inventory. My store inventory schedule has so many open shifts that they are expecting us to work fifteen hours or more overnight.
I did it once and that’s it for me . After eight hours I am leaving. I don’t care if the inventory gets finished or not.
Let them get the new hires to work those hours. After all they are paying the new hires more.
With current staffing I'd rather schedule someone to open 930 -530 and the closers come at 11:30, you get recovery in the morning and coverage when you need it. Not to mention only people with returns for AYS are in the store at 10AM and the empty store at 8:00 with no coverage after 7
This is actually beneficial for us in terms of staffing. For some reason no one in my store want to work closing shift. I always end up watching 2 areas at night when I close or get a call asking if I could do a closing shift on my day off or even just a short closing shift because we have 5 - 8 closers call out each night.
Same here in Florida they said it was for customer and employees safety.... blah blah blah . It's just for better profit ,that's all.
11 - 7,11 - 8, whatever.... Truly, these are the only hours the stores do much business, so be happy for the extra time.
Yes, there was communication about this. But our store hours are already 11-8 Monday-Thursday so it doesn't make a difference for us.
I was told that it was till the end of January. Slow times and many people out sick or quarantining.
Macy's is reducing costs during slow time of year. Good move.
Company is going under.
They're saying it's because so many people are out with Covid they can't get coverage.
