Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

It boggles the mind, but some people still love working here

I work with a guy who is petrified of being affected by layoffs because - as he puts it - this is the best job he's ever had and he would hate to lose it. He's a decent guy with good education, so it's not as if this is the only thing he could get. He just genuinely likes it here, even after everything that's been going on. I can't wrap my head around that, but if I'm being honest, I'd like to be more like him. At least he's not miserable every day at work like I am.

I don't get it.

If some of you are so unhappy with Citrix, just f* leave. What stops you?

If you have golden handcuffs, then be thankful for that. Not many people in South Florida (or tech/IT in general) have them.

Or be honest with yourself, take the financial hit, abandon your golden handcuffs, quit this place that makes you so unhappy, and try your luck out there.

You can't stomach the risk? Then find a way to be happy where you are (or keep bi-----g, your choice.)

No job is perfect, but if all you do is moan about it, you won't be happy anywhere bc wherever you go, there you are.

Don't underestimate the fear of change. Many of the managers I met during my time at Citrix were very complacent. It takes current to go beyond your comfort zone and learn new skills, explore new horizons, and dare to discover something different with an open mind. Truly, the typical fearful person that stays a long time in one place isn't worthy of any envy.

I bet that’s the golden handcuffs speaking most likely. Power to you if you can hang on long enough. But don’t mislead others. Ppl will desperately buy into any narrative to reassure themselves. Human psychology is a truly fascinating topic.

I, for one, love working at Citrix - flexible hours, challenging assignments, amazing people and products that truly help customers. There are problems, but they are very fixable. The teams I work with, which are most of the ones across the company, are a bit shell-shocked by layoffs, but not disheartened. Instead, they are rapidly regrouping and renewing their focus. Deep down there is a willingness to make things better and rebuild. We will come through stronger in the end.

What’s not to love about working / being here?? My most rewarding job by far.

He must have a good manager? Hard to find at Citrix. He is probably the 1%. I would like Citrix to publish the survey results. What’s the majority of employees think?
