Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

Recruiting continues

SMH. HG on LinkedIn recruiting for a Sr. Program manager. Forget who would take it, but instead of laying off so many people, they couldn't transition one of the many into that role so they could keep their job?

I hope anyone who applies for a job at SG does their homework on a sinking ship and runs away.

I left SG a few years ago. Got a job in a big Silicon Valley company. I can tell you first hand it’s a big difference when the culture is dynamic and diverse. Productivity increases with the deep collaboration. It also feels good knowing that the organization is making an effort to avoid any injustices, even going so far as removing gender legacy bathrooms.

I’m glad you brought this up. My group was talking about this the other day, pointing out how it’s important to change the image of Sungard AS. We need to have that modern image of Silicon Valley and customers will see we care about diversity and inclusion. I get what your manager is saying. It does start with changing the culture and empowering all employees and help them in their self-actualization.

@dwgu+1e7bu5a0 New HR system??? Yeah, um no. It was placed on hold back in October. Manager is blowing smoke up you know where or is clearly out of the loop.

It was horrible having these layoffs. But my manager said SG is trying to turn things around, even change the culture so it’s aligned with the style of popular Silicon Valley companies. He said one forward-thinking approach he heard is plans for rolling out a new HR system where one feature lets a person update their gender more than once any time. I didn’t understand at first but he explained one little element like this can bring about a change in culture, empowering employees, help them fulfill themselves, and that will attract new innovative talent. I hope this goes according to plan.

@4gpt

Who’s left in DC Ops?

Mostly everyone, they haven't yet figured out a way to uninstall customer equipment remotely.

With Krusty the clown, clown school at the helm. Good luck to anyone who joins this sinking ship. It's embarrassing.

Yeah, I wish I had found this site a few years ago when I let a so-called "friend" talk me into going to work with him at SGAS. Live and learn! Never, ever again.

Happy to have found this. Definitely not applying to their cloud dev positions after going through this board.

No, you couldn't transition anyone else on the cut list. I would imagine that the layoffs are financially driven, so they go after the highest salaries, first, in whatever role they're going for. (Other than those who may be on some "can't layoff" list for all I know. They seem to lead a charmed life)
