It is of course desirable and commendable to take your job seriously but when the company is worth it. At Macy's it only results in stress.
I see a bunch of people here who know what a ridiculous company they work for and they still try to give their best while working with a cramp in their stomach.
Why so much stress? Why so much effort? Macy’s isn’t the only show in town.

Macy’s management at all levels are a bunch of hypocrites. They show their smiles, talk the talk but do not walk the walk.
My work ethic was always do your absolute best for your company. But the fact that they are paying new hires $15.00 and temp workers $18.00 an hour but telling loyal long term employees to wait till May is absolute nonsense. The new hires and temps are bragging about their pay. Plus Macy’s Is paying a fee to the temp agency.
Macy’s has money to burn but they decided to slap their loyal employees in the face. My dedication and loyalty to this company went out the window with all the lies about pay being told by management.
You know Jeff Gannett and his top Lieutenants will get their huge bonus payouts just like last year.
Macy’s deserves what they got. They thought that when they made their announcement a few weeks ago about the $15 people would break the doors down to apply. Guess what Jeff nobody wants to work for you. Not only can you not fill seasonal jobs but you are losing good, loyal long term employees due to mismanagement.
OP is correct. Only give your best to the deserving. Otherwise you are an enabler.
Because my work ethic is to work and give my best to my company. I don't know any other way. I can't in good faith slack off or try to "get one over" on my coworkers.
