Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

Used to be a great place - now HR is just aggressively taking it out on employees

In the past, HR used to be very eager to help and always worked hard to maintain a good work atmosphere, but recently I am having plenty of problems with them. They don't care about the company anymore and are just doing politics to cover their fat as--s.

HR has become extremely aggressive just to spite people. Just an example: we have till Dec 1st to upload our vaccine documents - no problem with that, I am not antivax.

On Nov 29, three days before the deadline, HR already contacted my manager that I haven't uploaded the documents yet.

On the other hand, they never reply to any questions on their blog in anything but the vaguest terms, as in "we are closely following federal and state guidance and will update our policies..."

What kind of work environment is this?

You and people like you are exactly why working for any corporation will continue get worse and worse. Take your vax BUT resist the mandate, else you'll eventually be forced to do something you don't want to do in order to keep a job that you hate.

^ Does your new boss know you spend company time frequenting message boards to complain about your former CEO?

You're free. Let it go.

Sounds like being sack, do some reading below

Hello team,

Just over a year ago I joined the Western Digital team. I joined because I believe in the amazing technology, the business, and people of Western Digital, and especially the opportunity in Flash. I am now more excited than ever about the Flash business, and the future of Flash at WD. Flash is literally powering the future, and WD has never been better positioned in that future. From consumer to cloud, and client to embedded, we have opportunities in every segment of the market.

At the same time, we still have much to do to capitalize on those opportunities. I believe we can get a dramatically better outcome with some simple changes to how we operate, and in our business strategy. We must lead in NAND technology, we must be strategic and selective in using our unique advantages to win in the marketplace, we must be great in how we do our jobs and best in class in how we execute. Over the coming weeks we will be working together as a leadership team to build out our plan for how we accomplish those objectives, which we are calling Flash 2022.

In order to support that plan, I am making changes to the Flash organization. Today I’m excited to announce the next steps in the evolution of Flash, focused on simplification of the organization, aligning our top talent with the most important opportunities in the business, and giving us the platform to execute in 2022 and beyond. As part of this transition, Guruswamy Ganesh and Huibert Verhoeven will be leaving Western Digital.

Already looking. It is hard to accept, because WD used to be a great place. Always had good relationship with HR, and they always went the extra mile to be helpful. But over the last years, nothing but problems. All the good people left. I don't want to be identified, but they were involved in an issue with my first line manager, and they made the problem much worse.

now all the HR reps are just self serving pricks and take pride in fu----g up peoples lives for personal entertainment. lots of turnaround in HR as well, most don't even understand how we make money.

Your are under the DG Dictatorship. Get out. I did and could not be happier! More money. Better culture! WD is a toxic place. Sad.
