Sometimes it’s funny how some pretend to be much busier than they really are, but that seems to be the most effective strategy if you don’t want to be overwhelmed with a huge amount of work in this company. That’s a lesson I learned too late here.

The best is when both you and the other guy set up an "initiative" to show you are "busy".
Nod, nod, wink, wink then back to "work". I'm sure about 3 out of 5 employees are "busy".
Octane doesn't understand why his hard hitting style generates zero employee output. So he only knows how to use the hammer.
Seriously, only the d-mb ones do any actual work at this company.
Like the other guy said…it’s a art…
Not true. No one will be pretending for too longer in this company.
no diff than any other large, multinational company. the appearance of being "busy", filling up calendars with nonsense meetings, etc. there's an incredible "art" to looking busy. my favorite is scheduling the sending if emails at 10pm, 1AM, 5AM, etc. the appearance of working late....right....
the last place i worked just cared about results, if you could do the job in 30 vs 40 hours...great.
