Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Extended Hours

Extended hours again this weekend (both Friday and Saturday 10-10) and not enough sales associates. In my dept. for both days, one person is scheduled 9-5 and another person is scheduled 2-10. This is good enough for the Sales Manager because there is someone scheduled to open and someone scheduled to close. This is not good enough for the well-being of the Sales Associates and for customer service.

While there may be a shortage of workers many companies are posting open jobs and looking for applicants AND NEVER RESPOND to the applicants. One HR person applied to 60 jobs he was qualified for, heard back from 16 and got 1 job offer. Smoke and mirrors. Macy's has done this before - Hiring 70,000 for HOLIDAY!!

Our store in South Texas still have sales people in the shoes department, I know there's no more commission anymore. How come most of the Macy's shoes department are open self serve and most aren't. The changes coming next year is Macy's changing all the stores in the shoes department to open self serve? Now that they are adding a central checkout station per floor on spring 2022.

It is quite evident that Macys is becoming more of a ross type shopping experience, this is not a bad thing, the customer just needs to be aware of this and not expect things to be like the good ole days when you could sit in your car and someone pumps your gas, cleans your windshield and checks the oil! Just look at how the shoe department is now, no sales people anymore, and is is becoming the new norm throughout the rest of the store. It is not the end of the world folks, get used to it!!

One of the more frequent complaints that I hear from customers is that there is no one to help them.

We could say we are hiring all we want, but fact of the matter is we aren’t. We made the hiring process harder than needs to be . Plus why would I work for Macy’s at 13.50 when I can go somewhere else for 15.00 with a better environment.
