I would like to hear your thoughts/comments on deciding between leaving VZ or waiting out the unpaid leave to see what happens. I am not interested in a debate about the vax, good or bad just your thoughts on whether to take my lump sum and leave or see how this plays out. I have already made the decision that VZ is not where I want to work any longer. I still have some good years left in me (50's) but have enough saved up that I don't need to work if I don't want to. My initial thought is to upload the verification stating I am not vaxed and don't intend to be by the 15th to comply (even though I don't agree with this invasion either) but really don't have a problem disclosing my status at this point. Do you think VZ will put you on unpaid leave on 11/16 or wait until 12/08. Once the 12/08 date hits and the 60 days of unpaid leave is over then what? Are they actually going to fire you or just try and wait you out? HR is deliberately being vague and will not address any specific questions. I do not want to miss out on a nice little sign here to release us from all liability $$ package once the threat is over.
Thoughts?

Just retire and turn off newsmax
I would have a serious discussion with my wife and financial advisor. Then I would do as I please. I would wait until the last minute. Employees leaving and pulling out pension contributions will bust most public pensions. VZ needs the layoffs.
So... to the OP, pick your road and head down it, IMHO, to Vzw it is nunya damn business as to anything medical/personal, a jab, not get a jab should be one's personal choice and should have no impact on your job... but welcome to Let's go Brandons Amerikan socialist states.
Vz is being vague hoping the class action lawsuit won't be so public...
we're required to take classes on unconscious bias, se-ual harassment and discrimination, all the while V is discriminating based on your status...
I am coming out as a transvaxual, I am unvaccinated person, yet I identify as a vaccinated person stuck in an unvaccinated persons body... sooo stressful.
Let's go Brandon!
@2sqo+1dyAVIJz I would get the vaccine because you arent going to find another job with similar pay and benefits with the lack of accountability that verizon has, also where are you going to go that doesn't require a vaccine?
Does anyone know when you will be put on "unpaid leave" if you upload "unvaccinated" status on 11/15? Any reason one could not still retire while they are on unpaid leave?
If u go on leave and do not get shot no more pay or benefits. That simple. No offer of another job.
Can verify correct. No severance. And yes you can go on leave and then get fired. Is a lot easier to do all this virtually for people than cause the face to face issues from termination. This is strategic.
Will be no severance for those not vaccinated. That's been decided already. Considered an employee choice. You will leave with your vacation balance only.
To the poster advising the OP has no critical thinking skills, please use your VLSS Blackbelt training to advise what you would do. You must be in a VZ leadership position and much smarter than the rest of us.
Obviously it is easier for me to say this than to do this...But I think it would be hilarious if you uploaded a "Let's Go Brandon" pic instead of your vaccine card.
how did you make it so long without critical thinking skills? please retire, I'm sure your coworkers wont miss you
The OP was not asking you for your advice on getting the vax, m*ron. Take the time to read the post and respond accordingly before handing out your own life advice. The question was regarding the process and thoughts about VZ's next move after the OP declares their current unvaccinated status on 11/15. I personally have no clue what VZ intends to do but would assume they will follow through with the threat for unpaid leave beginning on 12/09.
Vaxed/Unvaxed is your choice regardless of the future outcome. Why in the world would you ask a bunch of nameless people with their own preconceptions to assist you with making a life decision? Grow a pair buttercup, make your own decision as you are and will be responsible for it the rest of your life.
GE - 200 protesters out of 170,000+ employees. Yea, huge impact.
If you think Vz will reverse course at this point, you are dreaming. At best they have a couple of thousand people complaining. They RIF that many every quarter. If you can't get an approved exemption, be prepared to find another job.
Hold the line. Biden's mandate is not a law. VZ can't function without employees. I just saw a video where GE employees did a walkout.
Vz will reverse the mandate if enough people do not comply. There is power in #s. These injections are not safe. Doctors and nurses left their jobs. They are seeing what happens to people who received the shots.
out of all the d-mbshit we deal with at work, if a vaccine is the last straw, just quit. There are more pressing issues working for big red (especially retail) that a cluster fu-k. dog sh-t pos, garbage compensation plans that don't reflect real sales performance, sh-t staffing. all of those being bigger issues to want to quit, so if you want live by that sword, go ahead and die by it.
Hold strong and wait until the last minute to upload anything. Biden is already backing down on the mandate. It is NOT a law.
If this post is any indication, you’re useless to the company and those working around you anyway. So I’d say hang up the cleats and ride off into the sunset. Use your mediocrity in other ways.
Who the he-l would want to “come” back to Verizon once they leave? Lol
To the last poster: Yea you get that better job and then one day you'll realize how valuable you were when you're signing off to get your severance cuz yo a-s got RIF'd for all your hard work and dedication prob cause you old. Good for you. Some will stand strong as will I and you can fill my shoes when I am gone. But I will leave with dignity and you continue to live like a bottom feeder. To the original poster: Stand strong no matter what you decide its the right choice. I hope for better days soon as our gov is just falling apart and cant do anything right including this fake mandate. Verizon however will likely not change their communistic values and for that as they say on the shark tank, Im Out.
Good Luck to you friend !
I don't think you'll get a severance out of this. But if you are going to leave anyway you might as well stay and start looking for another job now.
Option C is to say you are based and upload a pic of a middle finger or a paper with some choice words on it and see if it ever gets audited. Could be a win-win.
If you have already decided you don't want to work here, why would you stay? They are not going to give severance to people who refused to be vaccinated. You won't be able to get unemployment either (depending on your state). You'd serve yourself better using this time to find another job. No one will be put on leave prior to the deadline. They are being vague, I think, until they see what kind of exemptions are being submitted. If granted, they have to determine what a reasonable accomodation is for each person's position. That will take time. If you don't submit an exemption, my guess is that you will be placed on leave as of 12/8. At that point you have 60 days of paid benefits and that's it.
I didn't want it. But as the sole income earner in my house, felt the toes sure to do so. I think if you apply for an exemption two things will happen: it will get denied, and you'll have a mark for the next layoff. And they promise to get back to you on the exemption by mid November when you need the jab by Nov 18. They are daring you in my opinion.
// retire now, don't wait // unpaid leave then let go means a bad reference check // ineligible for rehire ki--s chances at most other companies // if you wait until dec you are also hitting job market same time as everyone else right at Christmas when no one hires but retail //
Just as a heads up OP, after the 60 days unpaid they will start billing you your insurance premiums.
I'm also unvaxxed and refuse to budge, hold the line and see where this goes.
I’m hoping a lot leave so I can swoop in on all the job openings instead of leaving the company. I’m already job searching but if their is going to be massive job openings... I’ll stick around to see.
