This is not the only company that finds a way out of all the problems through cutting costs. However, I am only worried about this company because I am still here. This way, by cutting costs, literally everyone could be the 'leader' of a company. Is it possible that there is no other way for CVS to fix issues other than to cut costs?

You can only control the controllables from a business standpoint. Wages, prices, hours etc must be in harmony to deliver expected profits. Cost go up and prices go up. Wages go up and hours go down. More automation incoming.
