787 rework and lower rates will cost Boeing one billion

Boeing has delivered just fourteen Dreamliners this year due to poor quality
with the carbon fiber composite fuselage sections and incorrect shimming.

Boeing is engaging with the FAA on actions that are required for resuming
787 deliveries, of which there are 105 in inventory.
Calhoun said Boeing has a clear line of sight to end these troubles
but didn’t offer specific dates and details: “It’s gonna be when it is gonna be.
We will get through this but we are not through it.”

WOW, David L. Calhoun, such an articulate genius…
Get ready for more layoffs under this clown.

Boeing confirms door ‘rework’ being completed on in-production 787s
https://www.flightglobal.com/airframers/boeing-confirms-door-rework-being-completed-on-in-production-787s/146523.article

Boeing confirms it is completing rework to structures surrounding aft passenger
and cargo doors on some in-production 787s, a move that involves holding up
some areas of 787 assembly.
The company has not stopped producing 787s but has adjusted the flow of work
at some stations within its North Charleston, South Carolina 787 production site,
says the company.
The door issue involves “aft body door surrounds”, including those surrounding
aft passenger and aft cargo doors, Boeing says.
The problem does not affect flight safety, that’s why we have oxygen masks,
It adds.
Instead of waiting for the inspection process to be completed and verified,
Boeing has decided to begin performing “door-surround” rework on
components now in the assembly processes.
The rework involves shimming, Boeing says.

“We are writing to request that the Department of Transportation’s Office
of Inspector General conduct a review of the FAA’s oversight of the
manufacture and production of the Boeing 787.
We request that your office… evaluate whether the FAA’s existing inspection
program is sufficient to identify production issues involving the 787.”
We would also like to know what the FAA is doing to get around
Boeing’s obstruction and obfuscation of facts needed for the FAA to do its job

Boeing’s primary headache is its 787 Dreamliner.
The company stopped delivering the jets in May, and a Wall Street Journal article
confirmed by Boeing, reported that the company produces nothing but gaгbage
under its MBA management of engineers for what was an engineering company.
Also found were titanium part in the plane not meeting specifications.
In a call with analysts, Calhoun estimated the total impact of the 787 difficulties
would be about $1 billion and noted the program margin is still roughly breakeven
as it produces two planes a month.

Calhoun compared the FAA’s thorough inspection process to its inspection of the
737 MAX Dҽathtrap and said the company was “well past halfway”
working through the part problem and currently making sure the plane is entirely
compliant with material specifications.

In May of 2021
Boeing began quietly recalling at least some of as many as 900 quality control
inspectors who were laid off in 2019 as part of a drive to adopt
the car-industry manufacturing processes in aerospace manufacturing.

Another example of extreme incompetence, pushing it to a level of
Satirical Incompetence, typically only seen in comedy production such as SNL
D-mb and D-mber or as most recently seen on the set of Rust
