SpaceX is so much better!!!! And pays well
Layoffs are pretty much annual.
The company definitely will layoff. There is a pattern of layoffs and that depends on profits and whether there is a crisis like 911 or other issues. It is a good place to gain experience and maybe consider leaving at some point for another company and better options at another company. Companies are short term it seems for all employees and it doesn't have the loyalty they once had. If you are hired do a great job and gain all the experience and take all training possible to better your skills and then you can exit when you choose.
Latest trend to be aware: they lay you off, and the day after you turn in your equipment your replacement is announced. People are always expendable at Boeing, and you will go before your manager, who doesn't do the work and had no clue what you did. This level of crass displays a profound new level of BS. Do you really want to work here? Think hard, and keep your recruiting contacts active.
Actual layoffs are rare but you will be under the constant threat of being laid off.
Boeing paychecks are between 25-50% of what tech companies in the area pay. If your job location is anywhere near the west coast, you will not be able to live in a single family home in the area (rent or buy). There are several directors at Boeing that cannot buy 3 bedroom houses close to their workplace. Layoffs are of secondary concern if your group has a large number of employees close to retirement
Good luck with the interview. I'm sure that u will be a better employee than the majority of the lazy crybabies that comment on this site!
Come On Job Fair
Boeing actually pays quite well compared to other big aerospace companies. Just not as well as Google, Amazon, or Microsoft.
If you perform well, I don’t see why you would ever get laid off from Boeing. I do not agree with the statement that very few people ever not get laid off. Yes, deep cuts (like 25% of the entire department, including retirements and voluntary departure) have happened.
About 5-8 years. You may survive one or two, but very few folks never get laid off. In addition - Boeing does not pay well. Go for other airspace companies. I was laid off from Boeing in 2020 - the best thing that ever happened to me - increased my income by about 40% and work now for much better company.
