Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Why do people here think that everyone's job is easier than theirs?

Here everyone seems to think that someone else's job is very easy, and that theirs is difficult. Cashier thinks it's easier to be a sales manager, and a store manager thinks it's easier to be anything but a store manager. My opinion is that only those at the top are doing ok here. Everyone below is valued less than they should be.

@23amg+1dvfcHHi Well Said.

The associate's who post those comments are the same ones who , every year on this forum and others , predict Macy*s will go under.
Of course this forum has Macy*s /Lowes/Sams and others all failing this year. Because none of them went 'under' in the last 5 years.

I've seen the comment managers “hide in their office” or “hide in the back” anyone saying that has no idea of all the constant never-ending sh!-* they have managers do every day. Also do you really believe the store manager allows this?

From schedules, customer responses, visit prep, complaints, reading and resounding to all the emails, hotbox alerts, webinars/calls, leadership meetings, webinars, accident reports, touch bases, time off request, reliability alerts, captainship communication, interviewing, job offers, safety meeting, shortage meetings, wellness checks, lunch, 2 daily turnover meetings, documentation, powerbi, teams, yammer, my store, ignite, work-proud, driving credit, medallia, ask hr, calling to replace call outs, solving things for phone customers, deep dive prep, etc.

The list honestly never stops it just repeats itself every week/month/quarter it’s freaking exhausting, and everyone, not just hourly colleagues are frustrated. Stop looking at managers as the enemy/problem. We are not.

The problem is the company executives who will collect bonus after bonus off of the hard work of the Store Team; off the colleagues who are on the front lines dealing with over whelming workload, bullying customers and hazardous situations; we do this all while asking for credit, bronze, roundup, WNM and training a hire at the same time.

We put our health and well-being on the f$!*%ng line everyday with zero recognition or a single thank you.

Anyone who shares the belief managers “hide in their office” or “hide in the back” use your built up misplaced frustration to job hunt if you think you store management is so horrible/incompetent. Get a job at a employer who can recognize your greatness and treat you the way you should be treated.

You’re not a hostage and you’re not a victim.

I’m so tired of the “Sales managers do nothing” what is your store manager doing about it? Just allowing it happen? I doubt it. I know in stores in my area we are busting our bottoms trying to do everything from holiday floor sets, check in’s, line busting, hiring, selling on the floor etc

In my division there is a large close knit group of sales managers and we text and text... helping each other out with information on holiday guide for set ups etc....

I’m sorry your in a miserable location but don’t speak for ALL sales managers cause you are wrong. The majority of us out here are working just as hard and doing all we can to support our people and store.

The little people do all the work so of course the cashiers on the floor and the merchandisers working on the floor are doing all the work. Sales managers just walk around and do nothing, they just talk with their fellow managers and gossip and shop and like to sit in the office all day and then get annoyed when you call them for customer issues. This isn’t all sales managers but a lot of them. Being a store manager is tough because there’s a lot of stress involved and you’re held responsible for everything.
