Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Contracts?

When the $hitty contract finally rolls around and you see the peanuts they're giving you and the conditions they have forced on you the past 2-3 years, try growing a pair of ba--s and finally vote it down. They take and take and take and then throw some scraps your way to shut you up and you're suppose to be grateful. It would be nice to strike but we all know there are too many fake suck @ss union brothers and sisters out there to stand together.

Machinist Union here.

  • in 2008 we had been through all the Presidential emergency boards
  • The cool-down periods
  • The last and final offer.

We met to vote for strike or no strike. The union head was adamant we take the last offer. It was complete capitulation and it let us know how our representation stands.

Never give in...never give up. The union is not on the worker's side

I've voted every contract down. They made us vote again last time and the union said that we should say yes or we'll get a worse deal. I guess it scared enough people into voting yes the 2nd time around. But hey, at least our General Chairman still making $$$.

Everyone is catching up to us wage wise. I’m a transportation employee and when I go out of town stay in a motel off the clock for 16 hours and go back home and tie up I’m making about $20.00 an hour. I can make that easily somewhere else. Not that great in my opinion.

Has any contract ever been a good one? With the money that the railroads make, they can certainly pay their employees more than what some are getting. The next contract is going to be the same as any other contract. They'll raise the insurance costs, give you a BS wage increase, and then play it off as a substantial raise for you while their costs have gone up. If they don't want to see people leaving in large numbers, then they had better stop playing the PSR game and start paying attention to the f---ing employees!
