Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

RIF timing

There is more and more talk about cuts. I need the job desperately, but I’m so outraged at this company that I won’t be much disappointed at all if they tell me they don’t need me anymore. It is RIF that sometimes helps people to work harder and find a new, better job faster. What disappoints me a lot is the timing. - Do they have to choose the worst period for cuts?

Simple, fewer customers, fewer employees.

Why is anyone surprised? That’s what our ELT does… lay off in Q4 so they can look like they had a banner year! Til the doors close for good, you can count on a RIF every year.

I think ETL is cashing on fact that they don't need that many employees to manage biz in decline. Many cust are poised to stay as they fear migration, some will drop next Q, nothing to do about it. No need for R&D, marketing, account teams etc. CHOP THE DEAD WOOD like its Christmas!

1st prize = being referred once
2nd prize = being referee twice
3rd prize = being referred thrice

Those streets really are made of gold...

Double referral bonus... Anyone that refers you to Teradata is not your friend.

is above happening in some specific department? In engineering and product, there is a significant uptick in hiring with double referral bonuses.

Getting laid off during a slow time of the year isn't necessarily a bad thing as it gives you time to ramp up your job search and interview skills so that you a firing on all cylinders when the hot job seasons (spring and fall) hit.

You need a job but that doesn't mean you need this job, especially when so many companies are looking for people with data management skills. Stop being the deer caught in the headlights and take control of your destiny by finding yourself a new job.

This company does not give a flip about employees. Employees are expendable and cutting them is just another way to boost short-term profitability and the stock price so ELT RSUs go up. Not a single ELT member is thinking more than 12 months out. Leave now, so many better companies are hiring.
