Kmart Miami Kendale Lakes, Florida No Longer Taking Layaway

Does this mean that the location is getting ready for liquidation soon?

I am glad you mentioned the hamburgers at Kmart. Man, those were juicy and hit the spot during a break.

To the poster below, this thread was from October 2021. It was already proven false, because it wasn’t closing then, and now, about 8 Months later, it still isn’t closing. So there was no need to stup1dly, bump this thread for absolutely no reason. Moreover, this thread is specifically about Layways at Miami Kmart, not your silly hamburgers. This does NOT need to be bumped atop the active list, when what you wrote wasn’t even on topic, or relevant to this already-proven-false thread.

Kmart was once a wonderful store to shop at. They had everything that one could possibly need. You could also get a hamburger if you were shopping at lunchtime. Sad to see it go.

Do you think if I order something online from Kmart, I will actually receive it? From the warehouse?

Miami is a fulfillment center, as someone mentioned before. That's why they survive next to a Wally and Targy. They are being used mostly as a defacto online order filling warehouse. The actual operating store is secondary.

Every last one of the closed Kmarts stopped taking lay away. Seems inevitable. Sorry.

@2bhq+1dij33RZ "I seen it" is not proper English. It's "I HAVE seen it". And the stores that were closed without sb360 were BEFORE SB360 took over the contract in late 2020. Since then, ZERO stores have been liquidated by Sears without SB360. ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH, NADA, NOTHING. Some stores were closed without liquidating, but none were or ever will be liquidated without sb360 going forward, regardless of what "YOU SEEN IT". Also it's I HAVE seen it, not I SEEN it. We use English here, not "Jerry Springer" language.

What the he-l is even left on the shelves to put on layway anyway? Some dollar-store quality kitchen gadgets? Off-brand cases of water and storage tubs?

@guc+1dij33RZ "I LOVE YOU YOU"? Glad you Love me me. They have a contract with SB360 for all liquidations going forward. SO they are kind of forced, unless they want to do non-liquidation closings (which are only really possible in areas with closely located stores, of which there aren't many now).

I love you you always write in absolutes. Nothing is FORCING transformco to use SB360. If they want to use a different liquidation company or even do in-house liquidations (run it themselves) when they close a store, or just close it suddenly close and transfer merchandise. They can do whatever they would like.

It doesn't mean anything. Just short-staffed, as someone wrote below. Again, if you want to confirm a closing, wait for jobs listings, or SB360. If it isn't on one of those, it isn't closing. Period. Stop asking, "is X closing?, is Y closing?", repeatedly. If it's on SB or Sears jobs (as closing job), then it's closing, and you don't need to ask. If it isn't on there, then it's not closing, and you don't need to ask. Either way, you don't need to ask. Full stop.

Avenel just announced they are taking layaways. They weren’t when I was there earlier this year.

I don't think staffing is an issue with Layaway. Here's how to tell: If it's staffing, they normally move Layaway to the customer service desk at the front of the store. (There should be a sign saying this at the rear Layaway counter.) If that particular store is closing Layaway COMPLETELY.... then yep, the future looks bleak. (This is what happened to every store near me that closed.)

Probably just short staffed due to the covid.
