Severance time

How many people are here just because they were hoping for severance pay?
I don’t know how good that is, given that it’s questionable how smart it is to miss a solid offer because of severance. Some say they are satisfied and some that they are not at all satisfied with the severance policy and that severance here is not generous at all.

If I hear severance is cut absolute - my 2 weeks notice is going in. Though I prolly get laid off and then they decide to drop severance.

I suppose that depends on how many years you have invested, someone with 15-20 years may want to hang around and take the risk.

What makes you think they will continue to offer severance? A few years ago it was 2 weeks per year and the most recent were just 1 week? Paying severance is expensive and not mandatory. If they continue to have financial issues, severance pay may be cut back even further or possibly eliminated completely to preserve whatever money they have left. Severance is a perk and the can terminate it at any time.
