What if the carrier WANTS a sizeable (especially trainmen) to become medically disabled very quickly? That way the carrier can begin with single man crews practically over night. All the while blaming the non vaxxers.

They messed up bad when they went to this PSR model. If we were railroading like in years past where trains terminated in hump yards I could see the one man crews working. However since everything is a pickup and set out now, I don’t think it can be done. The work is still there , now whether that’ work is done by a conductor in a truck, in the cab of a locomotive or by a bunch of strategically placed utility men that remains to be seen. Until they can figure out a way to not set out cars, not make shoves, not tie cars down and do a securement, pick up cars and do air tests and not line switches, the work is still going to be there. It would essentially require a rewrite of the GCOR and I think they don’t know how to do it.
Remember the greatest generation. They went to war to save the world from domination. Now people won’t get a shot to save the vulnerable because they say it’s their right.

Everyone is playing right into their hands with all this walk away talk! Once you are out and the way things are done change, how are you going to change it back? All your going to do is give them exactly what they wanted all along!
Of course the upper executives want that. Fritz had even said in town halls that the days of 1 man crews will happen with technology, or in this case with the help of a pandemic. And not just train crew but track dept, signal, car men, mechanics, etc. They knew making this decision we would retaliate, so they very carefully worded how to essentially "fire" agreement employees and fully terminate the non agreement employees who have no union protection.
