Thread regarding Conduent layoffs

The vaccine does not mean that your job is safe

Everyone is talking about vaccines as if they will stop the cuts in Conduent forever, after those who do not want to receive the vaccine leave. This is wrong on so many levels. I am afraid of what will happen here next year because I have a feeling that the company is sinking at a high speed. It would be best to find a new job by next year, right?

I don't think it's sinking fast, but they do have that looming specter of massive debt payments due next year that they may not be able to kick further down the road (maybe they can, I'm not sure). I also think they kind of got lucky in being in the right type of business (except transportation) to weather a pandemic.

But they're losing valuable employees left and right and not trying hard enough to replace those voids, and they've been doing it for years, so they've lost tons of knowledge in the process.

I got tossed onto several projects that had multiple key people leave and had to try to figure things out as best as I could, but they can only get away with that so many times before they lose everyone who could possibly keep up with those messes.

They might have already lost the vast majority of those people. And yet people leaving seemed to be accelerating even faster right when I left.

Very true. They welcome the opportunity to terminate U.S. employees for ANY reason.

Make sure you don't help them as they do it.

No documenting or training your replacement. Sc--w severance pay.

Remember they changed it a number of years ago.
Now, no matter if you've got 2 years or 20 years, you get the same TWO weeks severance pay. What a company!

What they usually do is this. They will lock down all of your access to anything (except email) and then will nag you for the next 2 weeks with endless demands for documentation, and dozens of meetings to make it BETTER FOR THEM. DON'T DO IT!

If they threaten you, call out sick as much as you can, slowwwwwww down your woooooooork.

Needless to say, but for those who need it spelled out, if you find another job while still at Conduent, make sure to give them your notice via email, that you are logging off, and that their [junk] laptop is en-route to HQ and it is very regretful [enjoyable] that there was insufficient time to conduct a documentation review and transition training.

Don't give reasons either. Why try to help them out on how to retain others?

Be Smart, Be Ready, Get your resume up to date NOW and when the **** hits, make sure it is flying in the right direction.

“The company is sinking fast.” Not sure how long you have been here but that oft repeated phrase has been said for 10 years or more. There’s little doubt the company has choppy seas and has taken on water, but it is no where close to sinking fast. Further, it depends what location and business you work within. Lots of companies are struggling through the current situation. Actually think Cndt did better than many and was able to respond faster getting people remote
Good luck whatever your choice, but don’t think you need to jump ship.
