If this has been a hard-to-bear job so far, with higher inflation it will become unbearable. I intend to leave, I hope to get another offer as soon as possible.
Do you think inflation will drive greater attrition here?

Some people that don’t understand how contracts work might leave. Anyone with an individual contract (non agreement) can renegotiate their wages as allowed. Agreement employees understand that the next contract will have retroactive pay increases and we know we’re already getting paid more money than what our last agreement stopped at, we just haven’t seen it yet. Possibly not as big of a pay raise as we should get thanks to all the small town people with low costs of living…but raises nonetheless.
Nobody will leave because of inflation. This notion is just stupid. Inflation will be affect you the same no matter where you work.
Sure people will leave. Some already have as wages have exploded in the job market and we are stuck with a 5 year old contract.
The inflation makes your retirement less and less attractive as your tier 2 only goes up a small percentage of the consumer price index. In other words you loose more and more over time with high inflation compared to a 401k where high inflation usually increases companies profits.
The burger flipper guy will comment soon letting you know that if you don’t work here you’ll be flipping burgers. His manager told him so. So everyone better drink the juice and be happy they aren’t flipping hamburgers because that’s all any of us can do if we don’t work here I guess. Idk
I think it’s just starting. This is not a desirable place to work anymore because the upper echelons don’t get it. If you treat people well they will stay, if not they will leave. People are getting upset where I’m at because the union is telling us that the company is looking at no pay increases for the next contract with increased healthcare. We’ll I think if that happens it’s going to be a big headache for the carriers when they have turnover similar to that of the restaurant industry.
I don’t really understand your posting. What does inflation have to do with your job? There will be inflation no matter where you work, so why would you leave your job because of inflation?
Why is the bear hard? That’s gross
