Cultural Transformation All Hands

Listening halfway through the cultural revolution... err transformation, I am losing the will to live. I've rarely heard a more banal, infantile, repetitive, artificial kumbaya devoid of any meaning and substance. As if someone took the photos and the voices of the ELT members and produced some permutations of the same spiel only with a different face and in a different voice. Creepy. And is SB no longer in the ELT?

@6fro+1dbV2IIq I fully agree with monomaniacal focus on COMPETENCE.

However, it is fallacious to assert that this is orthogonal to wokeism.
I argue it is not, and here's why: wokeism inverts the causality between diversity and value thus:

  • whereas in reality, when genuine no discrimination occurs, diversity is an _effect_ of the correct input, that is value;
  • in the woke dogma, the opposite is postulated: diversity is the _cause_ (or guarantee) of value.

So no, it's not independent, it's actually detrimental to unwavering focus on competence alone.

Wouldn’t hurt to have some focus on:

Integrity
Trust
Respect
Collaboration
Consensus
Decisions
Action
Impact
Performance
Results
Optimization

Might be a bit of a stretch these days but these are the actions and values that really matter and what drives many successful organizations.

Most of that list was simply second nature for many people at Teradata and it helped define, shape and develop a successful culture that lasted for many years.

"We don’t need a new woke culture."

Woke or not woke is irrelevant.

COMPETENCE, in senior leadership, is what TD lacks.

They say without much detail that money is not the main factor for attrition. So what else can TDC really offer to help with attrition? More work and less opportunities?

That they are taking more risk by staying ?

Job security only lasts as long as the company does….

The people quitting are the risk takers and independent thinkers that won't allow themselves to be abused. What does that say about the people that choose to stay?

We don’t need a new woke culture. We need to get back to the basics of innovation and customer focus. Teradata treated people with respect for many years. Ironically it wasn’t until all this wokeness that it went downhill. Does SM know how disrespectfully NC treats people? I don’t care how many languages he knows, that guy needs to go.

What a load of bullocks that All Hands Meeting was today. Together transforms us? Do they hear themselves spewing this total bs? Real talk- let's cover some issues that actually matter, the ridiculous number of workstreams, the lack of a strategy in spite of spending millions on NC and McKinsey, the total and complete chaos that is ensuing due to the astounding levels of attrition, yet the ELT and especially KCC and SM want to talk about a new culture initiative. Give me a break, this ELT is a MESS. Get rid of NC, let's admit that was a huge mistake and move on. Find someone to run sales that actually knows how to get a meeting and keep a customer. HA is probably the most hated leader of product ever, look at the attrition under her, people are running out the door to our competitors. Wake up, we do not need an hour-long "kumbaya devoid of any meaning and substance," we need leadership. SM stop listening to KCC and NC and get your head out of yer a**

May be a cover story for SM when this whole thing rolls over - 'I tried to change the culture but TD was beyond help'
