Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

M.e. On The Way Out?

Rumor has it there is a confidential search for a new CMO. I guess it’s not confidential anymore. They will probably bring on a McKinsey pick. This will not help. Our problem is not Marketing, it’s lack of innovation. And our product reliability and customer satisfaction issues, legacy platform, and high expense are not “myths” they are facts.

Great. A diversity hire. Useless. But it will be fun to watch the cat fights.

Shameful that someone leaked this search. The guy deserved better. CMO job at Teradata must be depressing. Old.Legacy.Expensive.Cloud-Last

It’s official M.e. got canned. Announcement just went out from SM. Marketing is not the problem. HA should have been canned but she is a political animal and has SM snowed. It does not matter what CMO tries to perfume this pig. It’s still a pig.

It would be a good test. Get rid of Marketing but don’t announce it. See if any salespeople or customers even notice. If McKinsey came up with that they would be brilliant. New work stream!

  1. e. must have incriminating photos. No other explanation.

  1. e. Is still hanging on. The guy has more lives than a cat. HA thought she convinced SM to can him, instead she is on the chopping block. They all deserve to cook in this political soup they’ve made for themselves. Sadly our business is going down the drain while the executive poor performers get rich.

If our brand sucks and we are not winning new customers, what good is Marketing?

They should get rid of Marketing completely. Nobody would notice.

BR is doing Cloud Marketing in the shadows now so why do we need M.e. anymore? They can clean out the Marketing barn. Plus the brand is pretty much a lost cause. If we ever get a new more cloud-native database we should change our name and relaunch. And ditch all the orange stuff.

They need to purge him and JJ. The marketing team has no real direction and seem to be running around like headless chickens chasing whatever next best idea they think will work magic.

Wow. M.e. Is still here. You have to give him credit for the ELT member making the most money and delivering the least value. (If you don’t count NC).

Anybody know who does the hardware maintenance. We have a piece of kit that is rumoured to be be EOSL and an extension is a ludicrous amount ( and only available for 1 qtr so we are screwed). The word is that TDC need to pay a 3rd party this uplift an it is beyond the control of TDC. Sounds BS.
Also curious why we need kit that is 4 times the size to match 8 year old boxes. To me it sounds like the mainframe sales gang of the 80’s. Also is the cloud offer really BS ?

The dude even paid a brand agency to create videos on how great Marketing is doing. Tone deaf since everyone knows Teradata marketing is meaningless. Nobody even knows who we are

First, who else do you know egotistical enough to have something like “M.e” for their initials? Did he hire a brand agency for that? This guy sat back and let his organization disintegrate. Since his comp wasn’t impacted he does not care. He does not have a heart or a backbone. One of the worst “leaders” ever to work at Teradata.

Remember ME's Friday customer / sales success themed emails? Then they stopped... Only to be replaced with KCC/SM's diversity themed emails. That was a clear sign the ELT had gone completely off the rails.

Teradata should be recruiting just ONE key role..

  • someone to stay behind to turn off the lights.

HA might be able to do that -just.

Or the ELT could outsource it for a few million.

I’m sure McKinsey might advice too - with NC and chums to assist.

Sitting in on the strategic reviews and watching Marketing try to justify the money we spend on their function is alarming. “We generated 1M “MQLs” last quarter!” Sales will not touch most of these “qualified leads” and we only win 3 new customers a year so what good is any of this? Our brand image is horrible. Pathetic. We need a new Marketing leader.

Maybe a new CMO will clean house and can all the bu-t kissing directors. Too much to ask for?

He’s been a dead man walking for months. SM and HA cut him off at the knees. All of Marketing has looked like an episode of The Walking Dead. Nobody in the field respects them. In fairness, they have no new products to market. Just rewarming old Vantage charts. If all of Marketing was let go there would no no impact to sales.

"All we got from M.e. was an expensive new logo. He drove his organization into the ditch."

He fired EF too. That counts.

Don’t feel sorry for him. He will walk away with a boatload of cash just like all the other transient ELT members have the last 3 years (VL,OR,ET,MC,RP,SB) I am sure I missed a few. The turnover at the top is insane. This has driven so many talented people to leave. Many have joined competitors. All we got from M.e. was an expensive new logo. He drove his organization into the ditch.

All of Mckinseys work thus far has been absolute sh-t and were paying them millions of $$$ for it!

But thats what you get when you hire a Mckinsey partner to create your strategy and then have him hire his friends at mckinsey to do it for him, right?
