Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Market is Hot! Look for other options

Folks struggling through acquisitions/re-org, it’s worthwhile talking to recruiters/consulting companies/network and applying to various job openings through LinkedIn/Glassdoor.

I got 2 offers in a single week last month and started my new role this week. 1 from Big Red and another from a Independent operator. The operator matched my old salary and has a higher 401k match and bonus target. No pension. So obviously went with them.

Was let go during Avanti and last year was rough. But can’t say how ecstatic I am.

Was the layoff a good thing or a bad thing? Only time will tell. My family is a lot closer with all the time with the wife and kiddos.

Good luck and try your best to stay positive. Another door will definitely open!

@1idl+1dahJ0nM I agree. The Dutch don’t care about their NA assets anymore and they’re showing that.

@2mbf+1dahJ0nM I heard from friends that Chevron is better and pays more. It’ll be a hard decision for sure since I’ve been at RDS for about 10 years now.

Chevron a bit better than Exxon as far as culture goes. Also committed to Shale

Leave. Don't stay on a company that feels sorry of producing oil and gas. It is hilarius that on the Shell website the highlights are a facility that captures cow farts. Chevron and XOM are good companies that are still feeling proud of their core business.

Debating on whether or not to leave RDS for Chevron or XOM. I work at the Deer Park location (mapped to chemicals) and don’t want to stay on that sinking ship.
